Freeski is a specific type of skiing which involves doing tricks on jumps, and other terrain park features including; rails, jibs, and halfpipes. Freeskiing began in the late 1990s as a way to express individual style and pushing the limits of what could be done on skis. It started to gain exposure through events like the Winter Dew Tour and Winter XGames which are known worldwide for highlighting extreme action sports. Slopestyle and Halfpipe made it’s Olympic debut in 2014 at the Sochi Olympics and Big Air was just recently added to the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing. Freeskiing was pioneered by legends like Tom Wallisch, Simon Dumont, Sarah Burke, Jen Hudak, and Tanner Hall.
